Recent advances in super-resolution (SR) support urban remote sensing by enabling the extraction of fine-scale spatial information from medium- and coarse-resolution Earth Observation data. This is particularly relevant in data-scarce or resource-constrained contexts, where very high-resolution imagery is limited, unavailable, or too costly for large-scale monitoring. SR can contribute to a wide range of urban applications, including informal settlement mapping, land surface temperature (LST) downscaling, urban morphology analysis, environmental monitoring, digital surface model enhancement, building and infrastructure mapping, urban green space assessment, and disaster risk analysis. This session therefore focuses on the application of SR techniques across diverse urban domains, while also considering their potential to improve spatial detail and support more reliable urban analysis. We aim to bring together contributions that demonstrate how SR enhances downstream urban applications and supports decision-making for sustainable and resilient cities.
While the primary focus is on applied use cases, methodological innovations are also welcome, particularly when they are clearly linked to real-world urban challenges. The session welcomes studies using various remote sensing data and products, as well as studies that evaluate the impact of SR on application performance, reliability, and practical usability.
